first west coast beach morning

thursday morning chris didn’t have to go in until 11am so we were able to talk him into going to our crossfit class and then to breakfast on the beach.  anabelle hadn’t been to the west coast beach yet and now that she’s walking I thought she might like to give the sand a try.

we had a great workout and then headed to seaside cantina on the boardwalk in pacific beach.  after some delicious banana chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, bacon, and a cozy latte we made our way out onto the beach.  it was an overcast breezey morning – and it was perfect!  we had so much fun just playing and watching anabelle discover what was out there.

anabelle & I made it back to crossfit this morning after a two week break.  I’m already sore and she has a couple little bonks on her noggin from a spill she took while we were there.  it has been one of those ‘wish I had a helmet’ sort of days for her – but always a pretty quick recovery from the tears.  she’s tough & is back to smiling within minutes.  the sad faces & mommy guilt get me though!

saturday was our first evening out without baby & my first time not putting anabelle to bed.  it was a successful outing and anabelle had a fun time with deidre.  we have another commitment this saturday night so hopefully it goes well too.

anabelle has been eating some new foods lately – shared some sausage, artichoke, mushroom, olive, onion pizza with us last night (if you haven’t gone to pizza port, you have to try it!).  her most recent fav seems to be sautéed mushrooms.  we shared a mushroom, spinach, goat cheese scramble for breakfast, yummy! 

we are working through the occasional clingy spell and what I’ve heard other friends call the ‘mommy do it’ phase when all baby wants is mommy.  I don’t like her not wanting to be with chris or being sad.  no worries though.  phases are phases (and I know we have a variety of them still in store) and we’re all figuring it out.

she’s resting now and hopefully dreaming about a bonk free evening.

it was so great to get time with chris & anabelle, to watch them together, and to be done with (& feeling good about) the event.

i was also feeling good about how we all managed with me working from 7am-8pm the majority of the days there (quite a role reversal).  i was a bit anxious trying to think how the whole nursing thing would work out – and it worked out just fine (phew & hooray).  bonus . . . i didn’t even have to pump.  i was up at least once or twice a night but that’s better than pumping for me.

i will admit too that i was a little impressed with myself for getting the two of us all the way to copenhagen and spending the first night on our own – over 24 hours of travel, 3 flights, arrive in foreign country, tadah!

at tivoli gardens (one of the top 10 sites to see in copenhagen).  tivoli is an amusement park and huge garden built back in 1843.  it’s beautiful and i’m so glad that we went at night.

back to the little mermaid – first time for mommy

there was so much open space in copenhagen that she just walked & walked!  now that we’re home she is marching around (still frankie style) everywhere.  she’s pretty proud.

*a note on all the crazy hair – anabelle has been trying to eat her barrettes lately so we’re taking a little break.  i’ve just ordered some bigger bow clips that hopefully will stay out of her mouth.
