well, we made it through chris’ first week back at work. hooray! it wasn’t completely graceful but it was a success. we made it to the grocery store three times, to anabelle’s swim class twice, two drop offs and pick ups from anabelle’s school on base, one trip to the post office, and a short visit to the park.
not too shabby!
my brain seems stumped a bit for conversation lately so this post is mostly just pictures. i figure friends don’t mind that too much.

driving home from swim on tuesday
i look forward to my daily quiet snuggle time with emilymae while anabelle naps
a little milk and quick snooze in the truck waiting to pick up anabelle from school
learning to watch after both girls
we’ve seen her pretty little eyes a lot more this week . . . and are getting the hang of newborn cloth diapering.
more quiet snuggles and some skin-to-skin
just saying hi to each other after a little bath
how is it that when you have a baby your original baby is all of a sudden such a big girl? she’s such a ‘kid’ now! we peeked in on her the other night before we went to bed and commented to each other how huge she seemed to look in her crib. sitting in time out has been introduced due to a few swats on the head to emilymae but i’m not sure we have it set up quite right. it doesn’t seem to bother her much and she kindly reminded me to set the time the other day by saying ‘mama, beep beep’ and pointed to the microwave. funny girl!
playing with her buddies – maybe our first version of a fort
sporting her new shirt she got for her birthday from aunt suzie. bonus – it has her name across the back and emilymae got one too! thanks suz!
three girls out and about!
more milky slumbers
newborns can make such sweet faces when they are sleeping
yep, another.
this is what i did yesterday during anabelle’s nap. just sat on the couch, looked on at my teeny ema and hushed my brain. dishes didn’t get done, dog didn’t get walked, laundry didn’t get folded and that was perfect.
who would have thought an ear of corn would make this girl so happy. she had a blast chomping away.
ok, didn’t quite realize how many of these i actually took.
this one is from this morning, sitting in my glider watching chris and anabelle snuggle in bed and share some cereal.
sweet, papa is home!
we top off a great week with a wonderful & toasty weekend together!
(i caught this shot yesterday when spying from the kitchen)
not the best quality but a great pic anyway.
almost three weeks and having an awesome time!
for those who couldn’t quite tell who was who in my earlier post . . .

I knew you would figure it out, Susan! It's a matter of prioritizing and organizing - two things you are good at. So good for you! And Chris...you are definitely a natural at "papahood"! Lovely special moments...
I am so happy for you guys! The story and pictures are absolutely beautiful :)
