15 months

anabelle had her 15 month check-up this past friday.  4 shots & circus band-aids, a few tears but not too bad.  she’s still under 19 pounds (18lb 11oz) but consistent on the growth chart.  dr. park predicts that she’ll be 5’4”.  I suppose we’ll see.

her teeth are working her hard right now.  her gums look really bumpy and we’re pretty sure there are several new chompers ready to pop through soon.

chris has had a few night flights over the last couple weeks which means he goes in later and can come to crossfit with me & anabelle.  it also means anabelle gets to share his cereal and watch a little sportscenter before we go.

anabelle is still taking two naps a day, although the dr says she’ll likely outgrow that in the next few months.  hmm . . .

“excuse me, anabelle.  are you supposed to be in that drawer?”

she’s still quite the unpacker (notice the floor).  now she loves carrying things around, especially big things.  I don't know if it’s because she sees me lifting at the gym but she does have great form!

anabelle seems to have quickly perfected the ‘arch body-head back-I don’t want to sit in the carseat/stroller or lay down for my diaper’ move.  she had it on display yesterday.  it comes and goes.  she’s learning, we’re learning.  dang, she’s strong!  we leave on thursday for connecticutt to see my sister-in-law, suzie, and her family.  I’m excited to meet her newest, baby titus, but am a tiny bit anxious about the flights.  I know it will be fine, but this will be a different trip for me & Anabelle now that she’s so chatty, walking (trying to run) and wanting to go-go-go!

hello blog - i have missed you

the days are just swooshing by and i have missed blogging.  been doing my best to keep up with anabelle and also working on her halloween costume. 

to get my creative juices moving, i started with this project:

chris was able to take friday off so we could go to the airshow as a family.  he had to work at the squadron’s booth on saturday so we went along too and brought my friend deidre.

i’m not sure which was my favorite part – the blue angels screaming through the sky (always awesome!) or anabelle making her little jet noises everytime she heard aircraft flying overhead (also quite awesome!).

papa’s girlfriend ~ she’s pointy, gray, fast, & always brings him home to us.  we are so proud of him, all that he does, and surely cherish the times he’s home and all ours!

beach buddies

a couple weeks ago we made a morning trip to the beach with some sweet friends.  the tide was super high so there was only a small piece of shore to play on.  the sounds and smell of the waves was so peaceful.

after shaking off the sand, we enjoyed a little picnic lunch and played on the playground.  by then the sun started to come out and warm things up – time to shed a layer.  it was a fun morning with great conversation, laughter, pride & delight watching our little kiddos just do their thing.

last night i downloaded all of the pics off of my big camera (it hasn’t gotten much use lately) and found some great ones from last month that i had forgotten about.  that’s more fun than finding cash in the pocket of your coat that you haven’t worn since last fall.

i’ve been trying to think of new things to do with anabelle outside.  without a yard it’s easy to just cruise through the day and later realize we didn’t get much of a chance to play out in the sunshine or enjoy the fresh air.  we take charley for walks but that feels more like a chore to me – i suppose i should just change my thinking about that.  maybe as anabelle becomes a better walker we can have more fun with it.

anyway, the other week i decided that we were going to go the leatherneck museum by the base.  it’s a small, free museum with several different aircraft.  i packed a couple snacks, we put on some sunscreen, and off we went.  there was a lot of space for anabelle to walk around.  she really liked the lava rocks around each display, excited at how the crunched under her feet when she stepped.  there weren’t very many people there, it is really close to the house, the weather was just right, and like i said – it was free!

anabelle received a fun surprise package in the mail from my mom.  what did we find inside?  well, a hilarious bumble bee costume – of course.  there are even feathers around the top of the tutu skirt.  i couldn’t believe how long she left her antennas on.  there are wings and a wand but those are both covered in glitter so i’m thinking i’ll save those for another day, outdoors  thanks, momma.

lately she’s been ‘dancing’ with her giraffe.  can’t believe she’s so big now that she can actually reach him.  we weighed in at the gym last week and she’s almost 19 1/2 pounds!

she has her next dr’s appt on the 14th so we’ll get some updated stats then.
