last month my parents came back out for a visit. it was so great to see them and we all had a blast. i loved getting to watch them with anabelle and emilymae, loved that my littles were getting to soak up so much goodness . . . & me too!
the weather was gorgeous and even a little toasty at times.
one thing on anabelle’s list was to go ride the carousel and the train so we were off to balboa park. thankfully we recovered from the major ‘mommy fail’ and had a really great day. reminder – the carousel and the train are both closed on weekdays. aahh!
after realizing that (sigh) i tried to regroup and decided to head to the fish pond. of course, as we were walking over there someone overheard me and said ‘you know they’ve emptied it out for repairs, right?’ seriously? thank goodness one side was finished and had some big fish in it to watch.
my mom captured this keeper!
don’t my parents look like so much fun? it’s true, they are!
figured we’d top off the day with some ice cream – why not?! she actually had a couple licks this time but that was it. then we were ready for some quiet time at home. one of anabelle’s new favorites is to brush your hair and she likes to give everyone a turn, even grandpa.
anabelle had been talking about the wild animal park for months. the first thing she would say every time she heard grandma & grandpa on he phone was “i want go wild animal park!” she knew that once grandma & grandpa got here we were going to get to go so this was her big day!
(and thanks gran for the great pass. we love it!)
*most of the pictures are from my dad*
no matter what, it’s always pretty amazing seeing the animals there and so close. it was quite a site watching this huge lion sleeping on top of the jeep.
having fun waiting in line for the safari tram.
enjoying the view from the front row.
the gorillas were our last stop and possibly our favorite. we were watching what we assumed were a father and a grandfather for a few minutes and then up came a momma and baby (his name was monroe). they were amazing!
what a day! anabelle and my dad enjoyed the final two rides of the night on the carousel and we were definitely one of the last vehicles in the parking lot.
it was such a fabulous visit. can’t wait to see them again soon, xo.
i am flying home with both girls at the end of the month. that adventure could quite possibly be it’s very own blog post.
